Photos: House rumbles through downtown Janesville
Thursday, December 4, 2014
See workers pull a Janesville house from Prospect Street, across the Milwaukee Street bridge and to its final resting place on Washington Street in these photos.
Before starting the house on its trip, workers for Badger Contracting of Elkhorn hang a self-evident sign on the rear of the structure to comply with state regulations.
The house makes its way down Milton Avenue past the Central Fire Station. The home is being moved to make way for a larger fire station that will replace this one.
The house makes its way across the Rock River via the Milwaukee Street bridge. The wide street presented a minimum of obstacles, making the trip through the city center a relatively speedy affair.
A worker for Badger Contracting of Elkhorn trims away overhanging branches from a tree on Ravine Street as the house nears its final destination.
The house makes its way down the 400 block of Washington Street to the waiting lot. The new location is across the street from Washington Park.
