ELKHORN—A Lake Geneva woman accused of fleeing officers and hiding in a cornfield is being charged with sixth-offense drunken driving after an Aug. 20 accident in the town of Sharon.
Dena D. Clark, 47, of 1271 Wisconsin St., Apt. D, was involved in a two-car accident at about 10:33 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 14 and County K, according to a Walworth County criminal complaint.
The accident injured several people in the other car, the complaint states.
Clark left the scene on foot. She was picked up by another driver and dropped off at a gas station in Darien, where she bought alcohol, the complaint states.
She was then picked up again and dropped off at a gas station in Delavan.
When Walworth County sheriff's deputies spotted Clark, she ran into a cornfield. She later was found in the grass along Interstate 43 and County X, according to the complaint.
Clark is being held on a $5,000 cash bond. She will appear in court next at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the Walworth County Judicial Center.
