Middleton demonstrated its strength in Big Eight Conference golf Thursday.
Janesville Parker High coach Mary Ross and her squad didn’t mind being part of it.
Middleton won the Big Eight triangular with a 317. Parker was second at 356, and Beloit only had one varsity golfer.
“Middleton is such a talented team,” Ross said. “They are always ranked high and finished second at state last year.
“They pushed our girls to do well and we did,” Ross said. “We were nine strokes better than we’ve shot.”
Keara Richards led the Vikings with an 85. Emily O’Leary had an 88, and Kendyl Richards completed the trio of Parker golfers in the 80s with an 89.
“Keara shot the lowest score of her high school career,” Ross said. “She birdied the par-4 7th and threw in seven other pars.
“We’re really excited because we know we have room to grow,” Ross said. “We’ll keep fine-tuning for the end of the year.”
Parker will compete in the Crusade for a Cure event Monday at Maple Bluff.
