JPAC offering three Creative Kids theater classes

JANESVILLE—The Janesville Performing Arts Center, 408 S. Main St., will host three Creative Kids theater classes for children ages 2 and older starting Sept. 27.

Local theatre educator and director Edie Baran and JPAC's new youth choir director, Christopher Smith, will teach the classes, which run for eight weeks.

Classes include:

--“The ABCs of Acting”: Class runs from 4:45-5:45 p.m. Tuesdays and is open to those ages 5-8. Young actors will create short scenes while learning basic acting skills, body movement and control, and concentration. At the final class, students will share an informal demonstration of what they have learned for family and friends. Cost: $52.

--“Song Lab”: Class runs from 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays and is open to those ages 9 and older. Students are introduced to the craft of songwriting. No previous musical experience is required. At the final class, students will share an informal demonstration of what they have learned for family and friends. Cost: $52.

--“By My Side”: Class runs from 10:15-11 a.m. Tuesdays and is open to those ages 2-4. Parents and children will play games, sing, dance, dress up and act. All participants are encouraged to explore imagination and invention through creative use of voice, body and mind in a noncompetitive, inspiring environment. Cost: $40.
