MILTON—The Milton Area Youth Center has hired Jared Mitchell as its new director of community development, according to a news release.
“We're confident Jared has caught the original vision for MAYC, and we're thrilled about the vision he brings as MAYC looks forward to a great future,” said Brendon Wilkinson, president of the center's board of directors.
Mitchell's job will focus on the center's mission of building community both within the center and among residents, schools, churches and businesses. His duties will include programming activities, maintaining community relations, fundraising, and volunteer recruitment and training, according to the release.
“We're very excited about the energy and enthusiasm that Jared brings to MAYC,” said outgoing Executive Director Pamela Thomas, who's stepping down Sept. 11 to become a Bahamian missionary.
“We started the training process last week and are very excited to welcome students back next week on the first day of school,” Mitchell added.
