— FRAUD, reported at 10:28 a.m. Thursday at the Janesville Police Department. An 82-year-old man reported that someone had called claiming to be his grandson and requesting $2,000 to help him because he had been in an accident. After sending a Moneygram for $2,000, the man discovered his grandson was OK.

— THEFT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE, reported at 3:23 p.m. Wednesday from the employee parking lot of Jimmy John’s, 2929 Milton Ave., Janesville. An employee’s 1996 black Chevy Blazer was reported stolen. No value for the car was given.

Accidents

— HIGHWAY 14 WESTBOUND, SOUTH OF THE INTERSTATE 90/39 RAMP, at 11:17 a.m. Wednesday, when a car driven by Earl T. Humphrey, 64, of W7760 Turtle Lake Road, Delavan, was stopped in traffic in the construction zone and was struck from behind by an SUV driven by Troy A. Kjendlie, 25, of 12713 E. Lake Shore Road, Clinton. The SUV had been pushed into Humphrey’s car by a minivan driven by Kenndrah R. Koehler Fierro, 23, of 1036 W. Hillview Drive, Whitewater. A passenger in the Humphrey car, Katherine M. Humphrey, 24, of W7760 Turtle Lake Road, Delavan, was treated and released at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville, after she told officers she was pregnant and wanted to be checked out because the seat belt tightened around her body at impact. Koehler Fierro was cited for following too closely, driving while suspended and driving without insurance.

Charged

— MATTHEW L. RUCKS, 32, of 6909 N. County M, No. 37, Evansville, charged with suffocation/strangulation and disorderly conduct. He is accused of assaulting a man outside Stables Bar & Grill, 717 Genesis Drive, Orfordville, in the early morning hours of Oct. 12, 2014. He is accused of choking the man, pushing him to the ground and jumping on top of him. The man suffered a fracture in his eye socket, according to the criminal complaint.

—AMANDA L. SMITH, 29, of 1027 Jerome Ave., Janesville, charged with identity theft and obstructing an officer. She is accused of giving the name of another person when stopped at 2:36 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of South Locust Street, Janesville, after police received a report of a loud, intoxicated couple fighting.
