TOWN OF DELAVAN—A town of Delavan accident that left two dead and one injured remains under investigation.

“We're still trying to put some pieces together,” Raymond Clark, town of Delavan police chief, said.

The department is trying to gather data or video from cellphones in the vehicles that might help determine what happened.

Clark could not speculate on what may have led to the accident because toxicology reports and other tests are not complete.

Norman Brummel of Elkhorn and Estefania Martinez of Delavan died from injuries sustained in the crash, Clark said.

Brummel, 85, was standing near a truck and trailer that had stopped on the side of Highway 11 near Royal Oaks Drive on Aug. 7 when a westbound vehicle hit him at 10:57 a.m.

Brummel was alive when he was taken to Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, where he was pronounced dead, Clark said.

Martinez, 22, was a passenger in the westbound vehicle driven by Brittany Dixon, 22, of Elkhorn. Martinez was flown by helicopter to Aurora Medical Center in Summit where she died last week, Clark said.

Dixon was treated and released at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville.

Authorities are waiting for results of toxicology tests on Dixon's blood before deciding if citations or arrests are warranted, Clark said.
