Janesville 11-year-olds win twice

Janesville's 11U tournament baseball team bounced back from a loss Thursday in pool play of the Ohio Valley regional to win twice Friday and take second in its pool. Janesville was seeded fifth for bracket play, which begins Saturday.

The city team scored a combined 25 runs in wins over Homewood, Illinois, and Fairfield, Ohio.

Janesville collected 15 hits, 14 of them singles, in an 11-8 win over Homewood. Jonah Aegerter, Jayden Murwin and J.J. Runde all went 3-for-3 in the game. Aegerter had two RBI.

The hits kept coming in the second game, which the city team won 14-6. Dylan King had a pair of doubles, and Janesville led 9-6 after two innings. After giving up five runs in the first, Janesville pitcher Hayden Halverson took control from there, striking out four and allowing just one additional run.
