Janesville's American Legion baseball season came to a close Saturday.
Beloit used 14 walks and three hit batters to end Post 205's run with a 16-6 victory in seven innings in a District 7 regional game at Riverside Park.
“When you have 14 walks and three hit batters in seven innings, you're probably not going to beat anybody, let alone a good team like Beloit,” Janesville coach Bob Schenck said.
Beloit advanced and toppled previously unbeaten Genoa City 10-0 in the afternoon, forcing a rematch between those two two teams at 1 p.m. today at Riverside with a state berth on the line.
Against Janesville, Beloit piled up five runs in the third inning to take control, but Janesville rallied with five runs in the fifth.
Beloit took a 7-6 lead into the seventh, where it blew the game open with nine runs.
Logan Coulter went 3-for-4 with two doubles for Post 205, which finished the season with a 20-12 record.
“We're a young team, with everybody but two players that can come back next year,” Schenck said. “Hopefully they had some fun and we get them back and go at it again.”
