Beloit finishes sweep of Clinton

July 20, 2015

For the first time since early May, the Beloit Snappers swept a three-game series.

Heath Fillmyer gave up a lone unearned run in the top of the first inning as the Snappers beat the Clinton LumberKings 5-1 on Monday afternoon. It was Beloit's fourth straight win and sixth in its last eight games.

After Clinton opened the scoring on a throwing error by shortstop Tim Proudfoot followed by a two-out double by Pat Leyland, Beloit responded immediately with a run in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Yairo Munoz.

Five different Snappers drove in single runs, and while they only had six hits in the game, eight of the nine Beloit batters reached base on balls.

Fillmyer struck out six LumberKings in his six innings of work to get his first win of the season. The Snappers begin another three-game set at home against Burlington, the team Beloit swept at Pohlman Field in three games from May 4-6. Tonight's first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
