JANESVILLE—A sex offender was scheduled to be moved from the Rock County Jail to 1214 Cherry St., Janesville, on Friday, according to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
Wayne E. Smith was convicted of third-degree sexual assault April 30, 2007. He was released to the Rock Valley Community Programs in the town of Rock on Nov. 1 but on Friday was in the jail as a sanction imposed by his probation agent, a jail spokesman said.
While living at 1214 Cherry St., Smith will be monitored by GPS and is not allowed contact with minors or victims. He is required to report to his agent weekly and is subject to scheduled and unscheduled visits.
