It doesn't matter how many games they've attended. Green Bay Packers fans are a unique breed, and their memories of being at Lambeau Field are unforgettable.
The team's success on the frozen tundra definitely helps the collective psyche of Green and Gold supporters. But it's the setting, ambiance and history that religious faithful say makes the experience special in a place they consider a professional football shrine.
And that includes residents from the Stateline area, who no doubt have a few mixed emotions this week considering former area high school standouts Tony Romo of Burlington and Travis Frederick of Big Foot are returning as members of the Dallas Cowboys.
Meanwhile, Payton Rucker created his first such memories Dec. 28 as Aaron Rodgers and company defeated Detroit to clinch the NFC North title and the No. 2 seeding in the playoffs.
“We were in the Festival Foods MVP Deck … in seats 21 and 22,” said Rucker, a fifth-grade student at Northside School in Milton. “We went to the party, got food and got to watch the game. This was my very first game, and they won the NFC North for the fourth straight year. We were (seated) pretty high up, but it was all good.”
