Delavan man dead after Monday morning crash in town of Lyons
TOWN OF LYONS—A Delavan man is dead after a Monday morning accident in the town of Lyons.
Jeffrey Bonsall, 45, Delavan, was pronounced dead at the scene after the car he was riding in hit a tree near 5791 Highway 36 at 9:31 a.m., according to a Walworth County Sheriff's Office press release.
The driver, Taran Raczka, 22, Burlington, was transported to Burlington Hospital and later to Froedtert Medical Center, Milwaukee, Monday.
Raczka was eastbound on Highway 36 when he lost control of his vehicle, which traveled off the road and struck a tree. Raczka did not brake before hitting the tree, according to the release.
Bonsall was trapped in the vehicle until Lyons Rescue removed him and the Walworth County Coroner's Office declared him dead at 10:44 a.m.
An autopsy will be performed Tuesday to determine the cause of death. The accident remains under investigation.
