JANESVILLE—Police say a Janesville man was running a marijuana grow operation with 22 pot plants at his residence.
Police on Thursday morning arrested Steven M. Tomasevic, 27, of 214 E. Holmes St., Janesville, on suspicion of running a marijuana grow operation and a drug house, according to a news release from the Janesville Police Department.
Tomasevic was taken into custody after police executed a search warrant at his residence following a months-long investigation by local police and the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation.
Police said a search warrant for the residence was issued early Thursday.
In the search, police seized 22 marijuana plants in various stages of growth in Tomasevic's basement, according to the news release.
Police believe Tomasevic was distributing marijuana out of the residence. He was arrested on charges of running a drug house, possession of more than 20 marijuana plants and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said city code officials also turned up several code violations at the residence, which had illegal electrical alterations, including extra wiring for lights and temperature control to support a grow operation.
