VetsRoll Returns
VetsRoll Returns
About 200 veterans and 160 others returned home to a hero’s welcome Wednesday in Rockton, Illinois, from the sixth annual VetsRoll trip to Washington, D.C. The 11-bus caravan started at dawn Sunday and ended with a ceremony at Hononegah Community High School Performing Arts Center in Rockton. The nonprofit VetsRoll takes the country’s senior vets and ‘Rosie the Riveters’ free to the nation’s capital, where they visit their memorials and other sites. This year’s trip included about 60 World War II-era vets along with Korean and Cold War-era vets through 1963.
