Restaurant Review: Whitewater's 'Joe's' goes a bit too heavy on the 'casual'
Casual Joe's, an authentic barbecue joint, opened in May in the old Fort Auto Body building. Chef Tyler Sailsbery went on a trek around the Midwest and the South to learn about barbecue and its different regional flavors. The meats are smoked on site, and the sauces are homemade. It's a great concept, but the execution isn't quite there yet.
Rhythm on the Rock music fest aims to draw people downtown
Food and beer vendors, six local bars and 15 bands will come together Sunday, Aug. 16, for the second annual Rhythm on the Rock—a festival meant to bring people to, and to show off, downtown Janesville.

Sweeeeeeet! Janesville Noon Rotary drops admission for Aug. 15 corn roast
In past years, the service club charged attendees ages 15 and older $1 in advance or $2 at the gate to partake in the free sweet corn that is central to the group's largest fundraiser. This year's free event will be Saturday, Aug. 15, at Janesville's Traxler Park.
