CAC show focuses on abstractions
WHITEWATER—Abstraction Within, an exhibit by Oconomowoc artist Virgi Driscoll will run Oct. 5 to Oct. 29, Thursdays through Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Center, 402 W. Main St., Whitewater.
Driscoll will greet attendees at a free opening reception on Sunday, Oct. 8, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the CAC. The singing group, The Daylilies, will be featured at the reception.
Driscoll has taught art at the high school level for 30 years. She's served in many arts and arts education leadership positions at the local, state and national levels.
Originally a figurative oil painter, she has been creating abstract oil paintings for the past seven years. Inspired by a wide variety of artists, especially the Abstract Expressionistic artists, such as Hans Hoffman, Joan Mitchell, and Brian Rutenberg, she continues to more deeply explore this form of painting.
Driscoll's art work has been exhibited in local, state, regional and national exhibitions. She has won awards for both her paintings and drawings.
Parking is behind the building, with an elevator available from the parking lot entrance. Parking is also available on side streets.
