What are your plans this weekend? Try a chili cook-off in East Troy or early Christmas shopping in Mukwonago, but don't forget to honor service men and women at Veterans Day programs around the county.

Veterans Day program, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m., hosted by the Walworth County Historical Society at Heritage Hall, 103 E. Rockwell St., Elkhorn. Daughters of the Union Veterans Civil War and the Daughters of the American Revolution will honor Veterans. The keynote speaker will be Ron Borowski, a US Army veteran who served from 1960-1963., talking about the Honor Flights. The program will conclude with the introduction of veterans and current military personnel. Refreshments will be served and the Veterans Museum at the Walworth County Historical Society will be open for tours.
Third annual chili cook-off and all-you-can-eat chili dinner, Nov. 12, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lindey's On Beulah, W1340 Beach Road, East Troy. Sponsored by the Tri-Troy Memorial VFW Post 7501. All Cook-Off entrants must call 262-642-9617 to register and obtain cook-off details. Prizes for top three; first prize of $100. Silent auction, raffle items, live music. Proceeds support community activities, scholarships and local veteran's needs.

Veterans Day program, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. sponsored by the Whitewater Arts Alliance, at the Cultural Arts Center, 402 W. Main St., Whitewater. Dave Saalsaa, owner of Quiet Hut Sports, will lead the program. Music of the era by Bill Hill. Free and open to the public, but space is limited, and veterans will have priority for seating.
