Popeye's owner pleads not guilty in assault case

ELKHORN—The owner of Popeye's on Lake Geneva pleaded not guilty Friday to charges accusing him of assaulting an employee Sept. 17.
Dimitrius Anagnos, 52, is charged in Walworth County Court with felonies strangulation and suffocation and substantial battery and misdemeanor disorderly conduct, according to the criminal complaint.
Lake Geneva police responded to the restaurant at 811 Wrigley Drive on Sept. 17 after a 24-year-old employee told them Anagnos grabbed him by the neck and shoved him into a wall, according to the complaint. The employee told police Anagnos asked him about a
man who had a personal relationship with Anagnos' girlfriend.
Anagnos is due in court for a status conference at 1:15 p.m. Dec. 15.
