LAGRANGE — An East Troy man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday evening on Pleasant Lake road just south of Oakwood Drive in the town of LaGrange, according to a release from the Walworth County Sheriff's Office.

Walter M. Kraayvanger Jr., 38, died when the 1999 Kawasaki motorcycle he was driving crashed into a tree.

Sheriff's deputies and emergency personnel from the Lauderdale-LaGrange Fire and Rescue units responded to the scene at 9:06 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, and found Kraayvanger lying unresponsive in a ditch a short distance from the motorcycle, according to the release.

Kraayvanger was pronounced dead at the scene by the Walworth County Medical Examiner's Office.

An initial investigation indicated Kraayvanger was driving northbound on Pleasant Lake Road when his motorcycle left the road on the east side. He came back on the road, but lost control of the cycle and went off the road again on the west side, went into a ditch and struck several trees.

The accident remains under investigation by the Walworth County Sheriff's Office Crash Investigation Unit.
