The best in both amateur and professional photography in the area will be on display at the seventh annual Fran Achen photography competition at the Cultural Arts Center, 402 W. Main St. in Whitewater from July 7 to July 31. Photo submitted

Amateur and professional artists will exhibit their photography at the seventh annual Fran Achen Photography Competition from July 7-31 at the Whitewater Arts Alliance's Cultural Arts Center, 402 W. Main St., Whitewater.

The show runs Thursdays through Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. and is free. 
 
A free opening reception with an awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, July 10, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the CAC. Awards will be presented at approximately 2 p.m.

Fran Achen was a longtime Whitewater resident, teacher, and local photographer. He is best remembered for his photographic collection which chronicles the history of Whitewater.
