Area Tea party group endorses Ryan
The Racine TEA Party has endorsed Rep. Paul Ryan for re-election, according to a Ryan campaign news release.
The release describes the organization as a fiscal watchdog group in southern Wisconsin consisting of "130 grassroots conservatives from across Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District.”
The group's endorsement letter lists 130 names.
Ryan, in the news release, describes the group as “one of the most influential grassroots taxpayer organizations in southern Wisconsin.”
Nancy Milholland, a Racine TEA organizer, is quoted as saying, “Paul Ryan is one of us. We know him. He has fostered relationships with countless constituents over the years, and we trust that he has our best interests in mind.”
Ryan faces a primary challenge in the Aug. 9 Republican primary from Paul Nehlen of the town of Delavan, who has been described as having tea party leanings.
