Remarkable women of Geneva Lake
LAKE GENEVA — Black Point Estate celebrates the return to spring and warmer temperatures with two new events: Remarkable Women of Geneva Lake and Steeple Tour of Lake Geneva.
On May 8, Remarkable Women of Geneva Lake will be presented by local historian Jill Westberg. This cruise and estate tour will focus on many of the remarkable women who have lived along the shores of Geneva Lake. The event includes a first floor tour of Black Point with an emphasis on the matrons that managed the estate for over 100 years.
“Each year we try to offer something memorable for Mother's Day. Finger sandwiches and tea service will be provided on the return cruise to downtown Lake Geneva, making this a really wonderful day spent with mom,” Black Point Dave Director Desimone said.
On May 21, a Steeple Tour of Lake Geneva will be offered. This program is an extension of the organization's popular downtown Lake Geneva walking tours. Walk through the history and architecture of four of Lake Geneva's historic downtown churches.
“We've all walked past these beautiful buildings, now is the chance to experience their beauty from the inside: the stained-glass windows, the carved wood, the pipe organs, the bells,” Desimone said.
Join the staff from Black Point and members from each congregation as they lead tours of these beautiful buildings. Churches on this year's tour include First Church of Christ Scientist, First Congregational United Church of Christ, Holy Communion Episcopal Church and Lake Geneva United Methodist Church. Starting locations will be provided as eventgoers register. Call Black Point at 262-248-1888 for tickets.
