Lightning damages Fontana home

FONTANA—A lightning strike apparently caused minor damage to a house during a storm Tuesday, said Fontana Fire Chief Wolfgang Nitsch.
No one was injured in the incident. Firefighters were called at 4:03 p.m.
The 30-foot-high tree was uprooted, and it appears telephone lines conducted the lightning to the telephone box on the house at 262 Castle Terrace, Nitsch said.
The box was pulled off the back of the house, and pieces of it were found about 30 yards away, Nitsch said.
It was not clear if the house itself was hit by lightning, Nitsch said. The side of the house where the box was located was charred, but the damage was limited.
