LODI-James R Cox passed away on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at age 80, after battling cancer. Jim was born on Nov. 11, 1935, in Janesville and graduated from Janesville High School in 1954. He earned a B.S. in biology from UW-Whitewater. Jim lived in Janesville for most of his life, but the last 27 years in Lodi. He married Clione (Mitzi) Keele in 1958 and Connie French in 1988. Jim founded, owned and published a weekly shopper called The Jotter, in Janesville for 20 years starting in 1969. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending countless hours on Wisconsin lakes, and especially enjoyed hunting pheasants with his beloved dog, Taffy. Jim was a lifelong Packers and Badgers fan who also enjoyed daily crossword puzzles. He wrote many letters to friends and to newspapers, as well as many poems. He was a kind and generous man and will be greatly missed. Jim is survived by his wife, Connie; children, James D. (Donna) Cox, Julie (Doug) Gerke and Gina (Tad) Hartlaub; Connie’s children, Zane Trick, Brett (Alicia) Trick, Matt (Kim) Trick and Steven (Tina) French; brother, Jerry (Barbara) Cox; sisters, Sue Peters and Sally (Ken) Vogel; 21 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME, 21 S. Austin Rd., Janesville, at 11 a.m., on Mon, Feb. 15, 2015. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
