June 12, 1925 - January 26, 2016

On Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, our dear Lord called Leon L. Churchill, age 90, home to spend eternity with him. The third of four children, Leon was born on June 12, 1925, in Viola, WI, to Harold and Gladys (Kanable) Churchill. He grew up in Beloit, where he loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his family. He attended Beloit Memorial High School. In 1943, when he was just 17 years old, Leon was eager to serve his country and readily enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Throughout his life, Leon shared stories with friends and family and always said how proud he was to serve our beloved United States of America in World War II. On Oct. 18, 1949, Leon was united in marriage to Millie Rose Bennett. Leon was a strong Pro-Life Advocate on behalf of innocent unborn children and the disabled. Leon operated his own business, Clean All Floor & Window Service, for many years along with his sons. He enjoyed playing cards, loved his life on his farm, and prayed daily.

Survivors include his loving wife, Millie; children: Gerald, Joseph, Roger (Julie), Jolene (special friend Mark Riesterer) and David, his son with Down Syndrome to whom Leon was deeply devoted; granddaughter, Kate (Jonathan) Weber; daughter-in-law, Beverly; and many nieces and nephews. Leon was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory; daughter, Jackie; two brothers, Garol and Lawrence (Elizabeth); and a sister, Arlene (George) Johns.

A Celebration of Leon’s Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOMES, 1004 S. Main St., Edgerton. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Edgerton.

The Churchill Family would like to express our deepest appreciation to the wonderful and caring staff of the Edgerton Care Center and special doctors who provided Leon’s care: Dr. Makkuni, Dr. Squires, and Dr. Clanfield of St. Mary’s Hospital.

Memorials may be made to the Churchill Family Pro-Life Fund to help with our work on behalf of babies threatened by abortion and for disabled persons, senior citizens, and veterans in need.
