MILTON—A rural Milton home was destroyed by fire Tuesday afternoon, one fire official says.
A call for a structure fire at 9736 N. Serns Road came in at 1:08 p.m., according to the Rock County 911 dispatch center. That address is home to The Farm, a local boarding and training facility for horses.
The Rock County Sheriff's Office and fire departments from Milton, Whitewater, Edgerton, the town of Beloit, Janesville and the town of Turtle responded. Officials rerouted traffic around Serns Road during the incident, according to a 911 Center dispatcher.

The roof of the house was collapsed and still smoldering at 3 p.m., a Gazette photographer at the scene said.
The home is a total loss, said Milton Fire Chief Loren Lippincott. No one was inside the home when the fire started. There were no injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it was called in as a chimney fire, Lippincott said.
