Richard "Dick" E. West, Sr., age 80, of Janesville, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at Mercy Hospital. He was born on June 20, 1935, in Janesville, the son of Charles and Elsie (Gordon) West. Richard served in the National Guard and was retired from the Schlueter Co. in Janesville. He married Shirley Marshall in Dubuque, IA on July 21, 1956, and she died on Aug 31, 2014.
Dick is survived and sadly missed by his three children: Lisa (Jerry) Rasmussen of Janesville, Chuck West of Milton, and Rick (Rayne) West of Chili; seven grandchildren: Cameron Thompson, Taylor Thompson, Alex Thompson, Raymond (Stephanie) West, Roslyn (Alan) Emmering, Rachel West, and David Rasmussen; five great-grandchildren: Hanna, JackJack, Hayden, Riley and Hailey; and two sisters, Marilyn (Lloyd) Busse and Charlene Brace, both of Janesville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents, Charles and Elsie West; his grandson, Joshua Schroeder; and three sisters: Virginia Swenson, Dorla Austin, and Beverly Johnson.
A Funeral Service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, at SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, with Rev. Jim Moses officiating. Private interment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park.
