Chef Joshua Slaughter has joined PIER 290 Restaurant in Williams Bay as head chef. Prior to joining PIER 290, Slaughter was the chef of a remote lodge in McCarthy, Alaska, where he created 20 course-tasting menus as well as a four-course dinner menu that changed daily and featured Alaskan-grown products and locally raised meats.

According to a news release, Slaughter credits his interest in local foods to the nearly two years he spent as chef de partie at Bouchon in Yountville, California. He also served as sous chef and helped open a restaurant in San Francisco and spent several years working in country clubs in his home state of Alabama.

Slaughter attended Jefferson State Community College in Alabama, where he studied culinary arts and food service management.

PIER 290 focuses on the flavors of each season using the farm-to-fork method. For more information, go online to pier290.com or call 262-245-2100.
