Two-car crash in town of Delavan leaves one dead

TOWN OF DELAVAN--A man died Thursday after a two-car crash in the town of Delavan.

Richard Lewandowski, 83, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Walworth County Medical Examiner's Office, according to a news release from the Walworth County Sheriff's Office.

Walworth County Sheriff's deputies and Town of Delavan fire and rescue units were called to the intersection of Highway F and Mound Road at 10:52 a.m. Thursday.

Investigation showed that a 2009 Hyundai driven by Lewandowski was westbound on Mound Road when he pulled out from the stop sign and into the path a a 2006 Ford cargo van driven by Ryan Bjelland, 26, Elkhorn.

Bjelland was traveling north on County F.

The Ford struck the driver's side of the Hyundai.

The accident remains under investigation.
