George Geske Jr., age 89, of Janesville/Edgerton, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on Sept. 12, 1926, in Edgerton, son of the late George and Mary (Carroll) Geske Sr. He was united in marriage on Oct. 4, 1947, to Rebecca June Miller at St John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Edgerton. He was a lifelong member of St John Evangelical Lutheran Church. George had worked at the Rock County Sheriffs Department for many years, where he was a Captain of the jail his last 20 years of employment there. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bike riding, traveling and woodworking, but his special love was spending time with his grandchildren and family.
George is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Becky of Janesville; one son, Douglas (Nancy) Geske of Janesville; two daughters, Kathryn (Tim) Olson of Barnum, MN, and Dianne (John) Higbee of Edgerton; six grandchildren: Tim (Hannah), Jessica (Grainger), Carly (Ricky), Becca (Jason), Samantha and Kelli, four step-grandchildren: Jella (Jason), Ashley Olson, Kyle and Ashley Warner; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Tom (Bev) Geske of Janesville; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by an infant son; and one sister; Mildred Easton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, at ST JOHN EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Edgerton, with the Rev. Donald Fehlauer officiating. Burial will be in the Fassett Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at the EHLERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 315 Lord St, Edgerton, from 4 until 7 p.m. and at the CHURCH on Friday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Full Military Services will be held at the cemetery by the Edgerton Memorial Squad. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to St John Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Rock County Sheriff's Department Honor Guard in George's name.
