Violet Margy Callahan, 85, of Belvidere, IL passed away Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, surrounded by her family at her home. She was born Sept. 18, 1930, in Janesville, WI, the daughter of Elmer and Magdalena (Stanke) Brooks. She married Donald J. Callahan June 25, 1949, in Rockford, IL. She was a Practical Nurse at Highland Hospital in Belvidere, IL. She enjoyed needlework, shopping, gardening and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all.
Violet is survived by her daughters: Judith (Michael) McGraw, Diana “Dee” (David) Margis, Catherine (Ronald) Ross; grandchildren: Elizabeth (Rob) Bowler, Jason Ross, Patrick (Holly) McGraw, Sara (Nicolas) Thornton, Angela and Melany Margis; great-grandchildren, Liberty and Irelyn Thornton; sisters-in-law, Tina Brooks and Reita Brooks; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 65 years, Deacon Donald J. Callahan; brothers: Charles, Harold, and Melvin; sister-in-law, Delores Brooks.
There will be a visitation, Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the BELVIDERE FUNERAL HOME INC. in Belvidere, IL. A rosary service will begin at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015 at ST. JAMES CATHOLIc CHURCH in Belvidere, IL. Interment in St. James Catholic Cemetery in Belvidere, IL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in the family's name.
