The injured employee was transported to a medical facility and was responsive and alert upon transport.

Authorities were called at 1:14 p.m. to a two-vehicle crash on I-43 near the Centralia Street overpass. An initial investigation showed the highway department truck had recently pulled onto the shoulder, and the driver and passenger exited to remove signs from a previous construction project.

Police were withholding the names of the people involved pending notification of family.
