JANESVILLE—Wilson Elementary School was briefly placed on lockdown Monday after a domestic incident at a nearby home, according to the Janesville Police Department.

Police Sgt. Todd Kleisner said a call came in at 12:42 p.m. Monday regarding an incident at 418 Rockport Road in which a man reportedly struck a woman in the head with a hammer. The school was placed on lockdown due to its proximity to the home, Kleisner said.

The lockdown ended at 2:02 p.m., he said.

The suspect was arrested on Court Street after the Janesville Fire Department responded to a call for a man down. The man was then taken into custody, Kleisner said.
