ELKHORN—Police are investigating the deaths of two Elkhorn men as a murder suicide, Mayor Brian Olson told The Gazette on Sunday.

Walworth County Sheriff's Office deputies discovered the two as yet unidentified men—a white 27-year-old and black 32-year-old—dead of apparent gunshot wounds after a child reported a man down Saturday morning, Olson and Police Chief Joel Christensen said.

The two were roommates at 2202½ S. Wisconsin Avenue, where they were found, Christensen said.

“This is a tragedy for the whole community,” Olson said. “Our hearts and prayers go out to the child and families of the victims.”

The Elkhorn Police Department is leading the investigation with help from the State Crime Laboratory, State Patrol, Walworth County medical examiner and the sheriff's office, he said.
