Michael A. Whitman, 52, of S. Jackson St., Elkhorn, WI, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015. He was born Dec. 7, 1962, in Grand Rapids, MN, the son of Wayne A. and Dorothy L. (Newman) Whitman. Michael served in the US Navy as a Helicopter Rescue Air-crewman from October of 1983 until June of 1987. He worked maintenance for several years at Alverno College. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and riding his Harley motorcycle. Michael was an avid Green Bay Packer Fan.
Michael will be deeply missed by his surviving family who include his son, Nick (Sarahi) Whitman of San Antonio, TX; his mother, Dorothy (Richard) Haugen of Elkhorn, WI; his father, Wayne Whitman of Lyons, WI; two sisters, Tammy (Bill) Kinney of Lyons, WI, and Tracey (Brad) Walzcak of Muskego, WI; one brother, Mark (Jennifer) Whitman of Hartland, WI; and by several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at HAASE-LOCKWOOD & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn, WI, with Rev. Jim Coehoorn officiating. Visitation will be at the FUNERAL HOME Tuesday from 4 p.m. until time of service. Inurnment with military honors will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Southern Wisconsin Veteran Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, WI.
