Thomas H. Bloom, age 77, of Janesville, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born on Feb. 28, 1938, in Platteville, WI, the son of the late Ernest and Mary (Reddy) Bloom. Thomas was raised in Arthur, WI, and graduated from Livingston High School in 1956. After high school, Thomas joined the US Army and served from Oct. 29, 1957, until he was Honorably discharged on Oct. 28, 1960. On Oct. 27, 1962, he married Myra Sporle and together they had two daughters. Thomas worked for over 35 years at General Motors, retiring in 1999. Thomas was a very quiet man, who enjoyed playing golf, cards and fishing with his brother on the Mississippi River. He also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, sports, especially the Packers, Badgers and Brewers. He always looked forward to following and cheering on his grandsons, as a proud grandpa should, while they were playing baseball and basketball.

Thomas is survived by his two daughters, Stephanie (Glen) Steffes and Cynthia (Mary Kay Vukovich) Bloom, both of Janesville; two grandsons whom he was very proud of, Blaise and Dane Steffes; his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Lester Speth of Stoughton, WI; the mother of his children, Myra Vincent of Janesville; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Maryanne Bloom; and his nephew, Scott Speth.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at the WHITCOMB - LYNCH FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Jerry Amstutz officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with full Military Rites provided by VFW Kienow - Hilt Post 1621. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. A luncheon will be served at the funeral home follow the committal service at the cemetery. Memorials would be greatly appreciated if they were made in Thomas' name to Agrace HospiceCare.

Thomas' daughter's would like to sincerely Thank his caregivers from Agrace Hospice here in Janesville, for the past six months, for the wonderful care they provided their Dad. A Special Thank You to his Nurse, Diane, and Social Worker, Erin, and the other nurses who came in his last few days. They were kind, caring and compassionate and treated him with the utmost respect and dignity. They are truly Angels.
