Scott Alan Hatfield, age 63, of Walworth, died on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, at Froedtert Hospital, Milwaukee, from injuries he sustained from a motor vehicle accident. He was born in Madison, on Sept. 16, 1951, the son of William J. and Caryl J. (Ramthun) Hatfield. Scott married Carole Quaerna in Janesville, on Aug. 16, 1975. He graduated from Milton High School in 1970, Milton College in 1976, and attended seminary school in St. Louis, MO, and Chicago, graduating from the Lutheran School of Theology on May 30, 1983. He was ordained by the ELCA on June 4, 1983. He served parishes in St. Louis, MO, Springfield, IL, Hickory Hills, IL, and Walworth, before becoming a chaplain. He has been a Hospice Chaplain since 1994, and served AseraCare Hospice in the Milwaukee area.
Scott is survived by his wife, Carole Quaerna Hatfield; two sons, Brian Hatfield and Craig (Candice) Hatfield; daughter, Ellen Hatfield; four grandchildren: Christopher, Nicholas, Max, and Charlee Hatfield; mother, Caryl Hatfield of Madison; brother, William (Pam) Hatfield of Janesville; two sisters, Julie (Randy) Haese of Janesville, and Gail (Robert) Diss of Wonder Lake, IL; 29 nieces and nephews and their children; and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; nephew, Adam Haese; and sister-in-law, Lynne Hatfield.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH with Bishop Mary Froiland and Rev. Naomi Garber officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday from 9 until 11 a.m. at the CHURCH. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY is assisting the family.
