It's here — the Walworth County Fair starts today, Wednesday, Sept. 2, and runs through Labor Day, Sept. 7. The young and young at heart may want to make Kiddieland their first stop.
Contests
Sign up for some fun contests on the stage. If you're a pigtail-wearing, freckled kid who likes to eat corn while crowing like a rooster, you'll want to check these out:
Wednesday, Sept. 2, scarecrow making contest at 5:30 p.m. on the stage.
Friday, Sept. 4, pickle eating contest at 2:30 p.m., on the stage.
Saturday, Sept. 5, freckles contest at 11 a.m., corn eating contest at 2:30 p.m., rooster crowing contest at 5 p.m., onstage
Sunday, Sept. 6, pie eating contest at 2:30 p.m., potato sack races at 3 p.m. on the stage
Monday, Sept. 7, pigtail/ponytail/braid contest at 1 p.m., cream puff eating contest at 2:30 p.m.
Marvelous Mutts
New this year is the Marvelous Mutts! It's a thrilling dog sport entertainment show that showcases some of the world's finest canine athletes. The dogs amaze audiences as they flip and fly to snatch flying discs out of the air, race through obstacle courses with breathtaking speed and launch themselves off a dock to catch a toy before it splashes into a pool of water. Spectators, children and adults alike, will leave the show with smiles on their faces.
Check out Squirt, a deaf dog, who is a four-time world finalist in canine disk. See WEE-la, Mucho, Lolita and Squeak — all rescue dogs.
Shows are held at 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. every fair day, Sept. 2-7, (no 5:30 p.m. show on Monday).
The Learning Coop
Something new this year is the Learning Coop. Learn about beekeeping, fly fishing and backyard chickens.
