Orval Leroy Messerschmidt, Beloit, WI (1934 - 2015)

Orval Leroy Messerschmidt, age 80, of Beloit, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, at Beloit Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 22, 1934, to the late Frank and Emma (Alt) Messerschmidt in Bradford Township. Orval enlisted into the U.S. Army on August 5, 1954, and served his Country until his honorable discharge on July 20, 1956. He married Diana L. Peach on Dec. 27, 1957, in Emerald Grove Church. Orval was a member of the Quarter Century Club, working at the Beloit Corp. from July 20, 1959, until his retirement on Feb. 1, 1997. Orval enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, especially their softball games. He also enjoyed family outings to Carvers Rock. Orval was a Packer fan, enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends and helping his brother in law Dwayne, on the Clary Farm.
He is survived by his wife, Diana; his two sons, Michael (Amy) Messerschmidt of Janesville, and Heath Messerschmidt of Beloit; his daughter, Heather (Tim) Clark of Woodburry MN; three grandchildren: Andrew (Melissa) Messerschmidt of Moline, IL, Stephanie (Dominic) Messerschmidt of Oak Park, IL and Emily Clark of Norman, OK. He is further survived by his three brothers: Harold (Kay) Messerschmidt, Dick (Donna) Messerschmidt, and Jerry (Lois) Messerschmidt; and his two sisters, Alice Clary and Betty Parker and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother in law, Beulah Peach; and his brother in law, Dwayne Clary.
Orval’s Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, in BRIAN G. MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit, with Rev. Tim Burkowski officiating. Friends will be received on Tuesday in THE FUNERAL HOME from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment and Full Military Burial Rites will take place in Mt. Philip Cemetery.
