Yoshi Fukushima scored twice and added an assist to help the Janesville Craig boys soccer team mount a comeback Thursday night.

The Cougars rallied from a two-goal deficit to earn a nonconference tie with Monona Grove, 3-3.

The Silver Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead and led 3-1 when Peyton Mueller scored his second goal midway through the second half.

“We started out a little slow, but we came out in the second half inspired,” Craig coach Garrett McCabe said. “We had the energy we were lacking in the first, and things started clicking.”

Fukushima, who scored the Cougars’ first goal at 61:04, scored scored an unassisted goal at 70:32 to draw Craig within a goal.

Nine minutes later, he fed Hozai Ceballos for the equalizer.

“I was extremely pleased with the effort,” McCabe said. “With Yoshi, you could just see that he was putting the team on his back to see the comeback.”

Craig hosts a quadrangular that includes Big Foot, Stoughton and Westosha Central beginning at 10:15 a.m. Saturday.
