Edgerton High coach Mike Gregory said senior Micah Rudd had “a coming-out party” Friday night.

It certainly was a celebration to remember.

Rudd rushed for 423 yards and scored seven touchdowns as the Crimson Tide defeated host New Glarus/Monticello in a nonconference opener.

Both the 423 yards rushing and seven scores were school records. Ricky Williams held the previous school rushing mark of 380 yards set last year against Beloit Turner.

Williams was the driving force for Edgerton for three seasons, and there was some question on what was going to happen this year.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Ruud answered that Friday night.

“We always knew Micah was a talented runner,” Gregory said. “He's been hungry.”

A full box score and statistics were not made available as of The Gazette's press deadline.
