ATV operator course available through Rock County Sheriff's Office
JANESVILLE—The Rock County Sheriff's Office “strongly encourages” ATV operators to take one of the upcoming ATV safety courses being offered by the state.
Anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1988, is required to complete an ATV safety course to legally operate an ATV in areas open to the public.
Officials recommend participants be at least 12 years of age, or turn 12 shortly after completing the class.
The cost is $10. A parent/guardian signature is required for those younger than 18. Underage students must be with a parent or guardian at the time of registration.
Class size is limited to 30. Those interested are asked to register online at co.rock.wi.us/sheriff-atv-education and also to attend a later registration date.
Upcoming classes will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on these Saturdays at the Rock County Job Center, 1900 Center Ave., Janesville:
—Oct. 10, with mandatory registration at 6 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Rock County Sheriff's Office, 200 E. Highway 14, Janesville.
—Dec. 5, with mandatory registration at 6 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Rock County Sheriff's Office.
