Elizabeth J. "Betty" Meyer of Sarasota, FL, a former longtime Janesville resident, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015 at her home in Sarasota. Betty was born Oct. 15, 1933, in Janesville, the daughter of the late Donald and Helen (Heiser) Dawson. She attended St. Patrick's Catholic School, and then attended and graduated from Janesville High School. She married Charles H. Meyer on Oct. 21, 1954, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Rectory. Charlie preceded her in death on Sept. 30. 1996. She and her husband owned and operated Charlie's Place for many years, which she continued to operate after his passing until a year ago when she sold the business and retired to her home in Sarasota. Betty was a past member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. She also was a past member of the Janesville Women's Club and the Janesville Elks Lodge #254. She was featured as the "Cook Of The Week" in the Janesville Gazette for her wonderful Spaghetti and Meatballs! She was a very avid Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer fan. Betty loved to golf, paint, read, knit, and will be missed for the many baked treats she made for her family and friends. She was deeply devoted to her family, and loved nothing more than spending time with them, especially her two grandchildren!
Betty is survived by her son, Charles S. "Steve" (Carla) Meyer, also of Sarasota, FL; her two beloved grandchildren, Charlie Meyer and Hayley Meyer; and by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Dawson, Jr.
