TOWN OF DELAVAN—An elderly man is dead and two people injured after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 11 in the town of Delavan on Friday morning, town police reported.

The deceased, an 85-year-old man from Elkhorn, is not being identified pending family notification. He was standing near a truck and trailer that had stopped on the side of the highway when he was hit by a westbound vehicle, according to a Town of Delavan Police news release.

The man was taken to Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, where he was pronounced dead.

The westbound vehicle was driven by Brittany Dixon of Elkhorn, who was taken to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville for treatment, the news release states.

A passenger in the Dixon vehicle, 22-year-old female woman from Delavan, was taken to Lakeland Medical Center and then flown by helicopter to Aurora Medical Center in Summit.

The passenger's name also was withheld pending notification of the family, according to the news release.

Emergency units responded to the scene on Highway 11 near Royal Oaks Drive at 10:57 a.m. The accident closed Highway 11 for at least two hours, according to state Department of Transportation alerts.

The town police are investigating the accident with help from the Walworth County Sheriff's Office.

“At this time, it is unknown whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash,” according to the news release sent Friday evening.
