August 26, 1946 - July 29, 2015

LaNetta Gail Black, 68, of Janesville, WI, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI, surrounded by her loving family. LaNetta was born in Wellington, TX, on Aug. 26, 1946, to the late Thomas Archie (T.A.) Porter and Mattie Marie (Payne) Porter. She graduated from Palo Duro High School, Amarillo, TX, in 1964, and married Douglas F. Black on Aug. 1, 1969. LaNetta's greatest pleasure was living a life of faith and being a prayer warrior. Although she was not affiliated with any one particular church, she was a lover of God who read from her beloved Bible every day, giving her continued hope, strength, and courage. She had a faith in our Lord that she shared readily with almost everyone she met. Our family benefited greatly by her prayers and steadfast lifting up. She had a great love for the piano - playing and listening. LaNetta was an avid lover of reading and also dabbled in writing. She took great pleasure in planting and harvesting vegetables and fruits of all kinds each year and then preserving and canning them for her family to enjoy all year round. She thoroughly enjoyed creating many delights in the kitchen from the fruits of her labor. Her talents and skills reached many as she was quick to share her knowledge with any who desired, whether it be cooking, reading, sewing, gardening, bookkeeping and the most important, praying. She had a strength that surpasses any that we know and her grace and elegance will forever live on in our hearts and memories. LaNetta was a beautiful and elegant woman who is and will be missed terribly, but her spirit will live on in each of us with her words, strength and love she imprinted on our hearts. LaNetta was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister and friend.

LaNetta is survived by her husband of almost 46 years, Douglas F. Black of Janesville, WI; her mother, Mattie Marie Porter of Amarillo, TX; her sisters, Debbie (Richard) Davis of Norman, OK, and Marleen (Gene) Glasscock of Amarillo, TX; her children: Laura (Lee) Garber of Milton, WI, and their children: Danielle Garber (Eugene Olson) of Sparta, WI, Taryn Garber (Michael Higuchi) of Wilmington, NC, and Scott Garber of Mooresville, NC; Amy Hubbard of Amarillo, TX, and her children: Thomas Hubbard of Dallas, TX, Sarah Hubbard of Denton, TX and Katie Hubbard of Denton, TX; Audra Buggs of Milton, WI, and her son, Jordan Buggs (Tia Burri) of Janesville, WI; LaNaia Holly of Solon Springs, WI, and her children: Devin Holly (Amanda Schellenberg) of Iron River, WI, and Logan Holly of Solon Springs, WI; Amanda (Martin) Walter of Strum, WI, and their children: Tyler Walter of Strum, WI, Zephaniah Walter of Strum, WI, and Shayna Walter of Strum, WI; and Adam (Christy) Black of Elk River, MN and their children: Madelyn Black, Leah Black and Elijah Black, all of Elk River, MN. She is also survived by three precious great-grandchildren: Ava Leigh Higuchi, Presley Ann Olson and Xena Lynn Holly; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Archie Porter; her grandparents: Sterling and Ruby Payne and R.C. and Theresa Porter; her brother, Gary Dale Porter; and her in-laws, Floyd and Violet Black.
