TOWN OF BRADFORD—An Elkhorn man was arrested on a charge of operating an ATV while intoxicated causing injury after a Saturday night crash that landed him and his passenger in a local hospital, according to a Rock County Sheriff's Office news release.

According to the release, Jonathan D. Scribner, 29, Elkhorn, was driving a 2009 Polaris Sportsman 850 in a private field on the west side of County C in the town of Bradford, when he failed to negotiate a curve, which caused the ATV to roll down a steep embankment and throw him and his passenger, Felicia M. Scribner, 28, Elkhorn, off it. They landed in the road and the ATV continued east into an open field.

Both were taken to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville, where they were admitted with serious but non life-threatening injuries. Neither was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, the release stated.

During the investigation, deputies noticed signs of impairment that led to Jonathan Scribner being arrested. He is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Sept. 17.
