Seventy-one citations for marijuana possession made at Alpine Valley concert

TOWN OF LAFAYETTE--Seventy-one citations for possession of marijuana were issued by the Walworth County sheriff's deputies during July 25-26 Dave Matthews Band concerts at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in the town of Lafayette, according to a news release from the Walworth County Sheriff's Office and the Walworth County Drug Enforcement Unit.

According to the release, seven arrests were made during the two days of concerts for felony battery to an officer (one), battery (one), possession of drug paraphernalia (two) and possession of marijuana (three).

Other citations issued during the two days include possession of drug paraphernalia (31), underage consumption of alcohol (23), trespass to land (one), disorderly conduct (four), battery (one), and obstructing an officer (one).

Six Wisconsin State Patrol troopers, two K-9 handlers and a sergeant participated in the traffic detail on Interstate-43, and made 12 drug arrests, including two felonies for possession of heroin and schedule II prescriptions. Other arrests included carrying a concealed weapon, obstructing an officer, two warrants and a probation and parole hold.

A total of 124 traffic stops, 225 warnings, 38 traffic citations and 16 K-9 deployments were made.

The remaining concerts for the season at Alpine Valley include Phish on Aug. 8 and 9, and Jimmy Buffett on Aug. 22.
