Police arrest 17, issue 170 citations at Alpine Valley concert

EAST TROY — An enforcement effort by the Walworth County Sheriff's Office, Walworth County Drug Enforcement Unit and Wisconsin State Patrol during last weekend's Dave Matthews Band concert at Alpine Valley Music Theatre led to 170 total citations and 17 arrests.

Walworth police conducted the efforts on July 25 and July 26 near the venue while Wisconsin State Patrol conducted efforts on Interstate 43 in Walworth County, according to a news release from the Walworth County Sheriff's Office.

Results of the two-day action include:

— 71 citations for possession of marijuana.

— 31 citations for possession of drug paraphernalia.

— 23 citations for underage consumption of alcohol.

— One citation for trespass to land.

— Four citations for disorderly conduct.

— One citation for battery.

— One citation for obstructing an officer.

—12 drug arrests, two of them felony for possession of heroin and schedule II prescriptions.

— One arrest for carrying a concealed weapon.

— One arrest for felony battery to an officer.

— One arrest for resisting an officer.

— Two arrests for warrants.

— One arrest for a probation and parole hold.

— Three arrests for misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

— Two arrests for possession of drug paraphernalia.

— 124 traffic stops.

— 225 traffic warnings issued.

— 38 traffic citations.

— 16 K-9 deployments.

Enforcement efforts will also take place during upcoming Phish concerts August 8 and August 9, and Jimmy Buffett concert August 22, according to the news release.
