Janesville 11U team loses Ohio Valley Regional opener
Janesville's 11U tournament baseball team lost its first game in pool play Thursday at the Cal Ripken Ohio Valley Regional.
Crown Point (Ind.) scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning and then held off a bases-loaded Janesville threat in the top of the sixth in a 7-6 win.
Janesville, which got home runs in the game from Dylan King and Jonah Aegerter, led 2-0 in the second before Crown Point took the lead with three in the bottom of the inning. The local team tied the game at 4-4 in the fourth, but again Crown Point answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Nate Bowditch went 3-for-3 for Janesville, while King was 2-for-3.
Janesville plays Homewood (Ohio) at 10:30 a.m. today and Fairfield (Ohio) at 2 p.m. today to wrap up pool play.
The single-elimination tournament begins Saturday.
